Students will be exploring residential construction for the next two weeks.  Although this unit is ultimately about framing houses, students will also learn how to read an architect scale, draw detailed floor plans and wall elevations, and explore the specific job functions of a carpenter.  The students will build a 1/2 inch scale model house from their own floor plans for their project.

For the last project of the year, students will design and build a container that will protect an egg.  Testing will consist of a 50 foot sky-drop onto the concrete.  Not only does the container need to protect the egg, it is to look professional and show advertisements or company logos on each side.

Thank You to Midwest City Stormwater Quality!!

The students and I would like to thank the Midwest City Stormwater Quality for donating to the CMS Technology Program.  Through their refuse program, the Department of Stormwater Quality has been able to help the environment and give back to the community.  People can take used or unused items such as paint, fertilizer, and antifreeze to the department instead of throwing it in the trash.  What could end up as hazardous waste, is either properly disposed of or reused by community members.  Many of the items received are in good, usable condition.  These items are available for free to residents of Choctaw.  All items received through this program must be for personal or nonprofit use.  For more information about the program, please contact the Midwest City Stormwater Quality Division at 739-1352.  Thanks again for helping Choctaw Middle School Technology Engineering !!

This website is intended as a communication tool for students, parents and any other people that are associated with Choctaw / Nicoma Park Schools.  Since this is a relatively new piece of our program, your patience would be appreciated until all the kinks are worked out.  You will find information about CMS Technology Engineering, current class activities, current TSA activities and assignments.  You can post questions, answers, or discuss anything relevant to Tech Ed.

Thanks,

Mr. Visnieski
